The use of Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (NPWT) is becoming increasingly widespread. However, the construction of NPWT dressings, performed by clinicians in-situ, is complex and time-consuming. There is often a failure to create a long-lasting seal around the wound margins.

Due to their ease of application and removal, and consistency of seal, FW's adhesive gel dressings are replacing hydrocolloid paste, the latter having traditionally been used as the means of creating a seal.
